Update your synapsen to Version 3.7a from 28th of June 2010

Before every update of synapsen, you should backup your literature-data. Please read the information in the FAQ.

In order to update older versions to the current version, you must download the file updateSynapsen.jar (ca. 19 MB, to begin the transfer you might have to hold down the SHIFT-key!) to your hard-drive and then start it with a (double)-click.

Pay attention while saving the file to your system, that the ending of the file does not change, that is to say that updateSynapsen.jar should not have any additional ending like ".zip" or something similar. If this program will not start with a (double)-click, open a terminal window / command-line and simply enter:

java -jar ./updateSynapsen.jar

Should the Java program not be found, enter the explict location to the Java Virtual Machine (JVM), such as

C:\Programme\Java\jdk1.6.0_01\bin\java -jar updateSynapsen.jar

Follow the further steps of the installation-program. You can also use the program to install synapsen in the German version. Simply choose the desired language during the start of the installation program.

Attention, important hint for users running Windows Vista: Before executing the installation or update routine of Synapsen, it is highly recommended to disable the User Account control (UAC), because the Synapsen's setup has to have administration rights in order to execute the installation as well as the ordinary Synapsen executable correctly. If you do not want to disable the UAC please ensure to run the installation routine as well as the ordinary executable (i.e. "Verzetteln.bat" or "Zettelkasten"-link) always with administrator's rights!
